Sooooo, I've been playing Guild of Dungeoneering on iOS, and I'm finding it similar to Darkest Dungeon except it's cuter and doesn't make you feel like a capitalist monster for sending adventurers to their death.
You're a guild master, you get heroes by building on to your base, and you only send one of your little minions out at a time. But here's the thing that makes this game fun. Each time your dungeoneer enters a dungeon, they start at level one. They plop down in a starting place, and you have to build the dungeon around your character based on the cards dealt to you for that stage. Your minion has a mind of their own, but they move based on what enemies are around them and what treasure cards you place (they like monsters close to their level, and valuable treasure). When you defeat monsters or open chests, they gain an equipment card which lets you add cards to your battle deck.
Darkest Dungeon just makes me feel like I'm torturing my characters, but the little cute guys in Guild of Dungeoneering love going into dungeons. They do earn little quirks after surviving a dungeon, but they're more to do with how your deck works (start with one less card, gain a bonus to physical attacks vs spiders, etc) rather than, well, being abusive towards your other ~ahem~ employees.
I think it's like $4 on iOS.
