I wouldn't say I'm a fanboy, but I'm certainly a Nintendo fan. I had an NES, SNES, Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U. And half a dozen various handhelds.
Growing up Nintendo was my primary gaming console, but with the introduction of the PlayStation (then PS2) and, later on, the Xbox 360, it got relegated to my back up console.
Nintendo would always crank out hits, but if I wanted a big library of games I had to have a Sony, or Microsoft system as my primary console.
This hasn't changed for me since the GameCube days! I have kids and they love the Wii and Wii U, and so do I, but they're okay to replay the same game over and over.
As far as the Switch goes I think they should have delayed half a year and launched with a great lineup instead of this meh one. If they released holiday season with the new Zelda, Mario, Splatoon 2, and Other crap some people maybe care about... THAT would have been a strong launch.
Instead we get Zelda, that I will get for Wii U, and... a full priced mini game compilation, a boxing game, old indie titles, and re-releases!
Not liking their subscription deal. Only having access to the "free" game for the month is a bad plan when your other two competitors have more generous online subscriptions.
And putting your matchmaking and chat on a phone app?!
Nintendo has always been lousy at its online game, but it is high time they join the rest of the world.
The more I dissect it the more disappointed I am.
In all likelihood I'll get one when in a year or two when they bundle it with a game. My prediction is that the Switch will run a similar course to the Wii U. I really hope I'm wrong.
