The Great Pendragon Campaign Part 2

I do not know, and off course it’s up to @SleepyWill although the basic premise of the whole Estate system is that estates are more stable tha manors and less dependant on changing situations…since the peasants will always pay for it!!!
The weather and war modifiers in the various GPC conditions usually do not influence estates, although after a few continuous bad years they can get the “pillaged” status (Estate pages 44-48).
Does it apply also to King taxes due to the wine story?
I do not know.
It depends on Will!

You’ll need to finish your motte and bailey to build any dependant structures, and the cost of a wet ditch around even a tiny 2 acres motte and bailey is £10 not £2.

If you don’t want to build a bailey, you can build just the bailey for £10 and drawbridge for the extra £2, and the wet ditch for £10, but then you can’t add a motte and tower later then

OK. Let get rid of the Wet Moat (for the moment).

Let have just Bailey but with Complex Gate (with a drawbridge) for £12 with enough space for motte, without building it (for the moment).

Wet moats, Mottes, towers and anything else can be added later on. OK?

Something like this WITHOUT the left part!!!

Ha, I had chosen the exact same picture as you to illustrate that mottes are generally not inside the bailey, you don’t need to leave room for it!

I think as well, when the time comes, your wet moat will be more expensive, as Woodford is not directly on the River Avon, but we can cross that bridge at the time - I suspect it will be cheaper than £5 per 1000 ft that the actual moat costs, but I’ll calculate that at the time.

Let ignore the wet moat (although I like it and I’ll make my Cornish benefactors to pay for it one day!!!).

If it was Morial I guess it would have solved the problem with a “semi-wet” moat with manure!!!

By the way, updated Expenses:

  • Bailey with drawbridge £12
  • Stone weir on the Avon river £ 5
  • Reinforced Mail suit £ 5

Remaining treasure: £ 6

Looks good to me, I agree that estates do not need to pay the multiplier - I’ll rethink that if you have more construction projects going than manors on your estate, bit you don’t so it’s fine.

Lucky enough Underditch has 2 manors in the same estate!

It makes sense with economies of scale. A greater workforce is available.

OK, this post is for me to organize myself. I will enact on this in a few hours.

I have some Estate improvements I would like to make with Ullin, but I do not have his info on me. So I will try to get that sorted tonight. He has £3 from this year and I need to total his money from last year and for capturing Octa (£50?), and minus the expenses (I believe he gave Cubeth some money and a nice wedding gift, but I think that is all he spent money on. He is concern with the Saxons and Uther’s lack of interest in engaging them and is looking to put up some defensive fortifications. What would be permissible?

Cubeth and Foxcotte. Since she got married and acquired some land, she is going to be moved over to Book of the Estate. I had discussed this a while back with Will, but forgot to send the confirmation to him. I believe she will have the same number of lands as Ullin so receives £3. She has a little money left from what Ullin gave her before the funeral feast (have the amount at home) and she had no money to start the year. She also has a dowry which I am going to roll after this post which will be added to her funds.

Does she get a stipend for being at Terrabil? What can that be spent on?

After that, I will roll on the horses. Does her war pony take a -1 for the injury from the boar?

And I think, after all of that… I might be caught up?

I found this as I was going back through the last winter. Just thought I would remind everyone since we were talking money…

Shoot, I realised I forgot this!

Cubeth Dowry:
d6: 4

So, I believe this will cover Winter 491…

£2.3.5 - From the treasury (Last years cash on hand…)
+£3 - This year income
+£14 - Saxon Treasure from last year (that was tied up last winter)
+£50 - Prize from Capture of King Octa (I believe the charger was added to the herd last year… If not, this year)
+£1 - From Mellisarium
-£6 - To Cubeth for Funeral Feast
-£6 - Cubeth Wedding Gift (£5 Wolf head clasp +£1 Fur with liner)
Total on hand currently £58.3.5

I believe there is a joust arena finishing this year. I was wanting to do some construction this year

Also, Narwar had £2.4.0 on him when he went mad. Any chance that came back with his belongings?

£0 - From the treasury (Last years cash on hand…)
£2 - Left over from Ullin for Funeral Feast (£2 spent on clothes, £2 spent on hairpin)
£4 - From Dowry (See dice roll above)
-5s -For 5 Boar Spears (Only has 3 now as 2 were given away to Sir Angaz)
-£1 -Wedding help gift to Lady Violette
Total on hand currently £4.15.0 + £4 stipend…

She has a joust list already and I believe the apiary would finish this year, does that need a die roll since it was started with BotM?

Let me know if this looks, OK.

No to Narwar’s money… I’ve spent it for him :smiling_imp: and no to a roll for the apiary, it becomes a mellisarium and completes this year. The rest looks fine to me.

I believe that’s everyone done with their economics, so moving on to the dreaded

Stable Rolls

for those who haven’t already rolled!

Shoot! I forgot to type in the improvements!
I was having a similar idea of a motte and bailey fortification but it sounds like a motte requires permission. So My intent is to build similar to @LucaCherstich and put in the motte and a ditch later.

Ullin <-- Is not a dragon, will spend some money…
Total on hand currently £58.3.5
-£12: Bailey with Complex Gate
-£4: Manor Hall Enclosure (DV4: 4 Glory)
-£7: Cursed Sheep Herd
-£15: Vaccary, Dairy
New Total in the Treasury £27.3.5

Cubeth will not make any improvements this year.

I figured this to be the case, but never hurts to ask what happened to it!

Everyone should have the same number of horses from last years rolls. Should I assume Narwar’s horses were returned to Burcombe?

Fury, Charger d20: 9
Rouncy 1 d20: 9
Rouncy 2 d20: 8
Sumpter d20: 9

Narwar Horses returned to Burcombe
Bay, Charger d20: 6
Rouncy d20: 17
Sumpter d20: 6

War Pony d20: 19
Rouncy 1 d20: 10
Rouncy 2 d20: 12
Sumpter d20: 11

I just decided not to roll anymore for all my old horses. They are basic horses and they are part of my anonymous 50 horses of the herd which just auto-replicates.

But I guess I have to roll for my special Cornish Destrier!!
@SleepyWill I do not even know how old is it!

By the way, here is the roll.
d20: 1

The Destrier “Our Soul” is gone!!
That’s why Menadue’s men were so happy to give it to me so easily!
I just feel one of my household knights will ride a rouncy now to give me a charger …

… you have my horse condolences.

Same here!

Surprisingly this is the first winter I had not lost a horse, but I still am on an average of one horse death per year

Don’t forget, we established yesterday that your herd is £200 in value, not the £400 it would need to supply your household with a charger, 2 rouncys and a sumpter - it is providing them with a War Pony and a Sumpter each, and if one knight feels slighted - with thirty positions free, I can guarantee you he will leave your household, for example if you take his war pony for yourself!
