I've spent the past few weeks engrossed in the newest 3DS Pokémon games and am just now emerging back to the real world.
Currently I'm about 55 hours in and have just completed the "classic" storyline i.e. beat everyone and just starting on the "post-game" content. I probably could have breezed through a bit faster but I like to catch all the available Pokémon in an area before moving on -- I did make an exception for some of the ones that you need to fish for 1%/5% on a bubbling spot... no thanks!
Anyway, I've enjoyed it as a veteran of the series. Felt really fresh for a new player, while cutting a lot of bulk out to appeal to people new to the franchise.
I really like the painterly GUI style (although menus are still clunky as) and little things like being shown which moves are effective and not so you don't need to remember an 18x18 chart. I'm a bit up in the air about the story. I mean, I liked it but not sure on the forced cutscenes. I may be old-school but I just like to chat to all the NPCs and find out what's going on without cinematics.
How have your experiences been?
